To some, living the same day over and over again sounds like a nightmare. For Danny Rubin, there are few things that bring him as much joy. Danny Rubin wrote the screenplay for the 1993 classic Groundhog Day starring Bill Murray as an ill-tempered weatherman fated to repeat the same day again and again.

After writing the iconic film, Rubin went on to write an ebook titled How to Write Groundhog Day. Now, Rubin has adapted his most famous work for Broadway, in the form of a musical titled — you guessed it — Groundhog Day.

Artists often end up resenting their most famous work—  Van Morrison doesn't like "Brown Eyed Girl," Robert Plant has referred to "Stairway to Heaven" as "that damn wedding song," but in the case of Rubin, his adoration for Groundhog Day has continued over the years. Rubin is honoured that something he wrote, even if it's just one screenplay, has managed to resonate with so many people and remain a staple in pop culture.

Groundhog Day opens on Broadway on Monday, April 17, 2017.
