There are some things that some people never want to talk about. Maybe it's a heartbreak you just can't get over or something terrible that happened at your job. Most people just avoid it altogether, but Benjamin Booker came up with a list and made an album called Witness.

Booker grew up in Florida, influenced by soul, punk and gospel music. His debut album got a lot of critial acclaim a few years ago, and as much as that success was rewarding, Booker couldn't shake the fact that there were a lot of things about his life that he didn't want to talk about. So instead, he turned those things into songs.

Today, Booker will perform songs from Witness in the q studio in addition to talking about how people like James Baldwin, Mavis Staples and Trayvon Martin inspired his songwriting.
