A timeline of key dates and events in the missing person case of Adrien McNaughton. As the show progresses, and new evidence and information is revealed, this timeline will be updated to help provide an overview of the case.

Nov 4, 1966

Adrien McNaughton is born

June 12, 1972 - Around 10:00am

B&W 1956 Dodge

John Gervais and two others park at Holmes Lake to go fishing at nearby Center Lake. There they see two men, two women, and a couple kids. The party were driving a Black & White 1956 Dodge Lancer or Coronet, similar to the one pictured above.

June 12, 1972 - Around 5:00pm

Fishing trip

After work, Murray McNaughton takes four of his children, including five-year-old Adrien, on a fishing trip to Holmes Lake. The lake (pictured above) is a 45-minute drive from their home in Arnprior, Ontario. They arrive around 5:00pm.

Mr. Ring

Donnie Ring (pictured above), an old fishing buddy of Murray’s, accompanies the McNaughton’s to the lake that day.

June 12, 1972 - Around 6:00pm

Adrien stops fishing

Adrien fishes for 45 minutes to an hour. Eventually he gets tired, leaving the lakeshore to play a short distance away from his father. According to Ring, Adrien stopped fishing because his line was tangled and sat down on a nearby rock.

June 12, 1972 - Between 6:00pm and 6:30pm

Adrien goes missing

Murray first notices that Adrien is missing. He sends Adrien’s eldest brother Lee McNaughton (pictured above) up to the car to search for him. After some initial confusion, they realize that he is not there either. This takes about 15 minutes.

June 12, 1972 - Around 6:45pm

The search begins

The fishing party begin searching for Adrien. He's been missing for 5 to 25 minutes.

June 12, 1972 - Around 7:00pm

Shouting

John Gervais returns to the area later that evening with his wife to fish at nearby Brennan Lake. Sometime between 6:30pm and 7:30pm they hear shouting from the direction of Holmes Lake. He later realizes that it was the sound of the McNaughton family searching for Adrien.

June 12, 1972 - Around 7:25pm

The police are called

After 20 or 30 minutes worth of searching, Ring drives to Jocko’s, a small motel on the edge of Calabogie, the nearest town. It takes roughly 15 minutes to drive there from Holmes Lake. He calls the Ontario Provincial Police and then waits for the police on Calabogie road in order to direct them.

June 12, 1972 - Around 9:45pm

The police arrive

By the time Ring returns with the Ontario Provincial Police, it's dark enough to require headlights.
