When she was in her late 20's, Susan Bloomfield inherited a worn bronze menorah.

She knew the menorah had been passed down from generation to generation in her family, that it was special; but she didn't really know why. The only person who did was her mother, now 83, still haunted by her family's experience of World War Two.

When Susan asked her mother about the menorah, she refused to talk about it.

Then Susan announced her decision to give the menorah away. After a new synagogue opened down the street from her home in Ottawa, Susan Bloomfield decided it was time for her Christian family to donate the menorah to a Jewish one.

Finally, a story - set in Holland during the Nazi occupation, of Christian relatives risking their lives to save a Jewish family - came to light.

This documentary was produced by Ashley Burke in Ottawa.
