For over two decades, Cindy Blackstock has lobbied to bring attention to the problems she has seen in Canadian aboriginal communities.

As Executive Director of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada, she is particularly concerned with the plight of aboriginal children. She is currently involved in a human rights tribunal, claiming that Ottawa is discriminating against First Nations children by underfunding child welfare services.

Dr. Blackstock is a member of the Gitksan Nation, and an associate professor at the University of Alberta.
