"It keeps me alive," says Newfoundland actress Janet Edmonds. With terminal cancer, she just keeps on performing.
This past summer, at a small outdoor Elizabethan replica theatre in the gorgeous ocean-side town of Cupids, Newfoundland, some theatre magic happened. There was the company - called Perchance. The play - Macbeth. And there was Janet Edmonds, the actress playing Lady MacBeth, the fierce and troubled ally of the Scottish king. A difficult part, at an extremely difficult time.
Just after she landed the coveted role, Janet learned that she had terminal bone cancer. It didn't stop her. In fact, she says, acting keeps her alive.
