Wilderness Committee lobbies for more logging

British Columbia's so-called "War in the Woods" was a high-profile protest against logging, and helped to define the environmental movement in Canada in the 1990's. 

In recent years, however, the province's green protests have focused primarily on oil and gas projects, like the construction or expansion of pipelines like the Northern Gateway or the Trans Mountain. 

As 2015 begins, the Wilderness Committee is asking the province of B.C. to think once more about its trees—specifically, about cutting more of them down. 

Eoin Madden is a campaigner with the Wilderness Committee, and he says his group has teamed up with the Pulp, Paper, and Woodworkers Union to ask the provincial government to give up its push for Liquefied Natural Gas development, and make forestry a priority instead.
