In 2002, Sherbrooke merged with a few smaller, surrounding towns.

That meant that in some parts of the city it was legal to own a pit bull, and some parts they were outlawed.

Sherbrooke council had to decide whether to extend the ban to the rest of the city, or do away with it entirely.

Councillors chose the latter.

They heard from experts, dog owners, and other members of the public, and after hours of deliberation that included a canine version of a police "line up," they said the choice was clear.

We gave Sherbrooke councillor David Price 180 seconds to explain why.
