Our political panel looks back at 2014 in Ottawa and beyond

​Four of Canada's top political journalists take a look back at the year in Canadian politics, and what may be in store for 2015.

It's been a difficult year ... in Ottawa and across the country. Today, on the last day of 2014, we look back at the political year that was and to the election year ahead as four of the country's top political journalists crowd round the table for our year-in-review.

Politically speaking, 2014 has been been a momentous year... and a sometimes troubling one too. On this last day of 2014-- it's ending on a tragic note, with reports of domestic violence in Edmonton.

To help us take stock of it all, and to peer over the horizon into the year ahead, we convened four journalists who most definitely have their fingers on the pulse of Canadian politics today.

  • Susan Delacourt is the Toronto Star's senior political writer.

  • Stephen Maher is national columnist for Postmedia News.

  • Paul Wells is the political editor at Maclean's magazine.

  • Althia Raj is the Ottawa Bureau Chief for the Huffington Post.
