Today on The Current:

Loved ones have been kept at a heart-wrenching distance from hospital patients since the pandemic began — but there are calls to ease restrictions on visits. We talk to Christina Stewart, who was separated from her son Quinn, who has special needs, during a recent hospital stay. And hear from Dr. Laveena Munshi, lead author of a commentary in the Canadian Medical Association Journal which makes the case for relaxing restrictions.

Then, Robert Harris discusses his new novel, about how the V2 rocket changed the Second World War. And retired major Harold Skaarup explains how author Farley Mowat smuggled one of those rockets into Canada.

Plus, we hear about the record-breaking generosity of Canadians in CBC B.C.'s charity drive this year — which raised millions for local food banks.

And lots of Canadians have been turning their gaze upwards during the pandemic as a COVID-19 hobby, including 5-year-old Julia Vegh and her dad Lou. We talk to them and some other passionate astronomers about looking up and thinking big.
