Turkish professor fears jail after three academics behind bars for petition
Turkish professor believes academics should be free from prosecution for signing a petition calling for peace talks the Turkish government and the Kurdish rebel group, the P.K.K.
Three academics are behind bars and awaiting sentencing after signing a petition calling for peace talks between the Turkish government and the Kurdish rebel group, the P.K.K.
Turkey's crackdown on academics has left others who signed the petition fearful of their fate. A Turkish professor who also signed the petition spoke with us on the condition of anonymity, fearing the same fate as the imprisoned academics.
Human Rights Watch say at least 30 other academics have been dismissed from their post, and 27 more have been suspended by their university pending investigations.
