Today on The Current

Pope Francis met with Métis residential school survivors Monday, the first of three Indigenous delegations in Rome this week, to discuss the impact of residential schools in Canada. Matt Galloway talks to Cassidy Caron, Métis National Council president, who was at Monday's meeting; and Duncan McCue, host of a special CBC podcast on residential schools, launching this spring.

Then, the Taliban has broken a promise to allow girls to attend school beyond the sixth grade. We talk to a high school teacher and a grade 12 student in Kabul, and Heather Barr, associate director of the Women's Rights Division at Human Rights Watch.

Plus, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney is fighting to stay on as United Conservative Party leader. We talk to Rob Smith, president of the UCP Constituency Association in Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills; and Mike Solberg, a political strategist and partner at New West Public Affairs in Calgary.

And we talk to Colin Miller, former captain and coach of Canada's national men's soccer team, about the importance of Canada winning a spot at the World Cup.
