Bill Graham has been at the centre of some of the most pivotal political events in Canadian history.

He was Canada's foreign minister, when the then Liberal government declined to join the so-called coalition of the willing in invading Iraq.

Graham held that portfolio through the so-called War on Terror, and sent Canadian troops to Afghanistan at a time when Canada's bloodiest conflict in decades — the mission in Afghanistan  — deepened.

Now, in his new memoir, The Call of the World, Graham joins The Current's Anna Maria Tremonti to reflect on the road to Afghanistan, and the road not taken — the decision not to join the American attack on Iraq.
