Hospital overcrowding leads to poor patient care and low staff morale, report suggests
A new report shows the Ontario's major hospitals are operating at 100 per cent capacity which has significant impact on patient care and causes strain for hospital resources.
According to documents obtained by Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath, hospital overcrowding is a critical problem in Ontario, with many major hospitals across the province operating at over 100 per cent capacity. That leaves some patients waiting days on end to access a bed and the care they need.
The documents reveal The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Brantford General, and London Health Sciences Centre were some of the worst hit.
