With only a month until the U.S. election, last night's presidential debate was essential for setting the tone in the coming homestretch, particularly for Trump who is reeling from this weekend's scandal

Clearly the candidates were feeling the heat, with yesterday's debate being dubbed the dirtiest in American history. At one point, Donald Trump called Hillary Clinton "the devil," while Clinton declared Trump's policies "demagogic" and "dangerous."

The tension between the two candidates was palpable, and both put up a good fight, but was there a definitive winner?

The Current discusses the most memorable moments from yesterday's showdown, and analyses the consequences it will have on the two campaigns.
