Yukon Premier makes his case to the PM for infrastructure money
Making the case for the North.
Darrell Pasloski Yukon Premier Darrell Pasloski came to Ottawa this week, with a handful of ministers, for a series of key meetings, including with the Prime Minister. Pasloski isn't shy about the trip's main theme: infrastructure.
"The main theme of our meetings was infrastructure," Pasloski told Chris Hall on CBC Radio's The House. "We've had some economic downturn as a result of the commodity prices."
"A big piece for us would be, what I simply call resource-access roads," which could lead to the development of new mining projects, Pasloski said.
Since the federal government owns resources in the North, "there is a significant return on investment to the Canadian people and the federal government, with such an investment," the Premier argued, pointing out that any project would have to go through the proper environmental assessment process.
"Now we're looking forward to the budget."
