Extended and expanded ISIS mission to be debated next week

This week on The House with guest-host Rosemary Barton, the leader of the Official Opposition has already made it clear that the NDP will not support the extension and expansion of the current mission to fight ISIS in Iraq. Tom Mulcair explains what his concerns about the mission are and what the NDP would do instead.

Then, Veterans Affairs Minister Erin O'Toole announced new benefits for Veterans and their spouses this week. It was the third change he was announcing in two weeks. But do the recent changes go far enough? The minister tells us the legislation to enact these changes is coming soon and we can expect more. 

In his new book 'Middle Power, Middle Kingdom,' Canada's former ambassador to China, David Mulroney, highlights several concerns with our strategy on the world stage, from a "steady encroachment  of domestic political considerations into our foreign policy calculations"  to the "danger of replacing international activism with mere rhetoric." 

Finally, Jennifer Ditchburn from the Canadian Press and Mark Kennedy from the Ottawa Citizen dig into the politics behind the move to extend and expand the mission against ISIS, the Prime Minister's comments on gun ownership in rural Canada. Plus they discuss the aftermath of the exit of Scott Andrews and Massimo Pacetti from the Liberal Party following an internal investigation into harassment allegations.
