We take a mid-week look at the latest election developments, starting with star witness Nigel Wright's testimony at the Mike Duffy trial. How politically toxic will Wright be for the Conservative campaign?

Former senior advisor to Stephen Harper, Keith Beardsley, joins us with his thoughts, and he doesn't think Wright's appearance on the witness stand will sway voters in either direction.

"If you thought Duffy was guilty, if you thought the Prime Minister was involved, then you decided not to vote for the Conservatives a long time ago," he says.

Then, the politics of oil in shaping the campaign narrative as a dismal world economy continues a downward spiral.

The parliamentary bureau chief for the Ottawa Citizen, Mark Kennedy, is here.

"Everyone in this campaign knows that the next government will be left with a deficit," he says. "That won't be very fun for a minority government so I think (the parties are) all going to be very cautious in this campaign in terms of what they promise to do."
