Madeline Ashby a futurist, a sci-fi writer and the is the author of the Canada Reads 2017 selection Company Town. She loves Haruki Murakami's After the Quake — a book of six short stories about the aftermath of the 1995 Kobe earthquake.

It's a perfect collection of short stories, all of which are haunting and chilling in their own way, and all of which are also affirming in their own way. There's something about how short and sweet and perfect and scary the stories are in After the Quake.
