Tourist Company is a Vancouver-based alternative rock band duo, formed in 2013, featuring founder and singer-songwriter Taylor Swindells and drummer Brenon Parry. Their full length album, Apollo, was released in 2016.

Swindells is a big reader and is currently checking out The High Mountains of Portugal, a novel by Spanish-born Canadian author Yann Martel.

He told The Next Chapter what he thought about the 2016 novel.

"The High Mountains of Portugal follows this museum curator who has a tragic loss and becomes attached to this work of antiquity. He devotes his entire life to finding this great work of art that's been lost. He processes his own family tragedy through diving into the work of this one piece from antiquity that he's trying to find.

It's set in Lisbon in the 1900s. I felt like it really captured the spirit of the city.- Taylor Swindells

"It's set in Lisbon in the 1900s. I felt like it really captured the spirit of the city. I've spent a decent amount of time in that city and it was cool reading about places that I've walked through. Lisbon is a beautiful city."

Taylor Swindells' comments have been edited for length and clarity.
