Alberta boosts Canada Olympic Park

The Alberta government is allocating $69 million for a new athletic and ice facility at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

The Alberta government is allocating $69 million for a new athletic and ice facility at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

The funding also covers upgrades for additional sports venues.

The ice facility is the heart of the Centre of Sport Excellence under the development by the Calgary Olympic Development Association.

The $69 million given by the Alberta government represents a quarter of the $276-million project spearheaded by CODA.

The complex will also be the new home of Hockey Canada, which currently trainsat Father David Bauer Arena at the University of Calgary.
