The Toronto Blue Jays have added some pitching depth by acquiring right-hander Esmil Rogers from the Cleveland Indians on Saturday in exchange for infielders Yan Gomes and Mike Aviles.

Rogers split time last season between Cleveland and the Colorado Rockies, posting a 3-3 record in 67 combined games with a 4.69 earned-run average. The 27-year-old has a career 11-12 record in the majors with a 5.95 ERA.

Aviles never played a game with the Blue Jays. He was acquired on Oct. 21 in a deal that sent reliever David Carpenter to the Red Sox and allowed John Farrell to sign with Boston as their new manager.

The 31-year-old Aviles played in 136 games for the Red Sox last season, batting .250 with 13 home runs and 60 RBIs.

Gomes played 43 games with Toronto last season, his first stint in the big leagues. He finished with four home runs, 13 RBIs and a .204 batting average.

The native of Brazil was selected by Toronto in the 10th round of the 2009 draft.
