Tulowitzki starting and #BlueJayAMovie trending

The Blue Jays began their final three-game series in Tampa Bay on Friday, which saw Troy Tulowitzki was back in the lineup and the hashtag #BlueJayAMovie trending on Twitter. Here's the best tweets from that hashtag.

A great day for baseball in Toronto

The Toronto Blue Jays tweeted this photo ahead of Fridays game, to welcome back Troy Tulowitzki from injury. Tulowitzki wasn't the only reasons fans had to tweet on friday as #BlueJayAMovie was trending on Twitter. (via Twitter/@BlueJays)

It's Jays vs. Rays in the final regular season series before Toronto begins postseason play on Oct. 8th.

Today was a good day for baseball in Toronto, as Troy Tulowitzki was back in the starting lineup after recovering from his Sept. 12 shoulder injury from a collision with teammate Kevin Pillar.

If Tulo being back wasn't enough to tweet about, the trending hashtag #BlueJayAMovie kept those Twitter fingers busy all afternoon.

We here at CBC Sports consider ourselves pretty PUNderful, so some options came up in the office right away.

  • Black Hawkins Down
  • The Blue Mile
  • Louper
  • Thole Recall

To save you the trouble of typing the hashtag into the Twitter search bar and finding your favourites yourself, we delved deep into #BlueJayAMovie and chose the best ones. You're welcome.

The tweet that started it all. Fitting that it was most likely to celebrate the return of Troy Tulowitzki.

Not surprisingly, the people at the Toronto International Film Festival were killing it.

The foodies at Oliver & Bonacini got in on the hashtag too.

As did ET Canada, with this one. Great job thinking outside the box!

This tweeter used his response to also make a prediction.

Whereas this user "Blue Jay'd" a book, that was later adapted into a play, that was then adapted into a movie.

This fan was grateful.

And this one reminded us all of how long it's been since there's been a Blue Jays post season.

Finally, with all this talk of movies and art imitating life, it was nice to see the Blue Jays namesake, shown a little love. Tweet tweet.
