Ichiro Suzuki got his 2,999th career hit in the major leagues, beating out an infield single as a pinch-hitter Saturday night for the Miami Marlins.

Ichiro Suzuki got his 2,999th career hit in the major leagues, beating out an infield single as a pinch-hitter Saturday night for the Miami Marlins.

Suzuki ended an 0-for-11 slump with the hit in the eighth inning against Colorado at Coors Field.

The 42-year-old Japanese star stayed in the game to play right field. He was set to bat again in the ninth.

Suzuki is in his 16th season in the majors and trying to become the 30th player to reach 3,000.
