Chatman helps Shooting Stars outlast Honey Badgers in Elam Ending battle

Kameron Chatman scored 21 points, including nine during the Elam Ending, to lead the Scarborough Shooting Stars to a 75-72 win over the visiting Hamilton Honey Badgers at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre on Saturday.

Jalen Harris added 18 for Scarborough (5-4), which was trailing by seven when the Elam Ending target of 75 points was set. Chatman posted four of the final six points, ending the game with a floater. 

Christian Vital posted 22 points to lead Hamilton (7-3), which is now tied with the Niagara River Lions for second in the standings. The Fraser Valley Bandits sit atop of the table with a 7-2 record.

Just over 20 days ago on June 4, the Shooting Stars were dominated by the Honey Badgers for a 84-69 loss in their first-ever home game.

The expansion team, which has now won its second home game since, will host the Ottawa BlackJacks next on Monday at 7.30 p.m. ET.

The Honey Badgers will play the Guelph Nighthawks at home that same day at 7 p.m. ET.

Stingers edge Nighthawks in high-scoring affair

Earlier on Saturday, Brody Clarke scored 25 points and collected a game-high 11 rebounds to lead the two-time CEBL defending champion Edmonton Stingers past the Guelph Nighthawks for a 101-95 road win at the Sleeman Centre.

Marlon Johnson, who dunked for the game's final points, and Adika Peter-Mcneilly each added 20 points for the Stingers (6-5). Demarco Dickerson also reached double-digits in points for Edmonton with 16.

Aj Lawson posted a game-high 29 points and eight rebounds to lead the Nighthawks (6-5), while Cat Barber added 18.

Edmonton will next face the winless Newfoundland Growlers (0-7) at home next Thursday. All CEBL games will be streamed live on CBCSports.ca, the CBC Sports app and CBC Gem.
