Canada's Steve Nash highlights 2018 Hall of Fame eligibles
Celebrated point guard among notable 1st time nominees
Canada's Steve Nash leads the 2018 list of eligible nominees for the Basketball Hall of Fame.
The two-time NBA MVP could become just the second Canadian player in the Hall, joining Vancouver-born Bob Houbreg, who was inducted in 1987.
Nash, 43, is an eight-time all-star who won back-to-back MVP awards in 2005 and 2006 while with the Phoenix Suns. He also played for the Dallas Mavericks and L.A. Lakers over his 18-year career, and represented Canada at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

Nash is ranked third in career assists with 10,335 behind John Stockton (15,806) and Jason Kidd (12,091) — who is also up for nomination.
Along with Nash and Kidd, other notable first-time nominees are Ray Allen, Chauncey Billups, Grant Hill and Richard Hamilton.
The finalists will be announced during the NBA's all-star weekend Feb. 16-18.
