A magician with the football, Tom Brady pulled a disappearing act during a news conference Wednesday when questioned about Donald Trump.

When asked about leaving himself open to criticism because of his support for the controversial U.S. presidential candidate, the New England Patriots quarterback — seemingly flustered — tried to shift the focus back to football before rushing himself off the podium.

Brady hasn't hidden his support of Trump, with the quarterback making their friendship clear on multiple occasions this season.

On Tuesday, Brady was asked about Trump on his weekly radio appearance with WEEI in Boston. After stating he wanted to stay out of the debate, Brady said, "Donald is a good friend of mine. I have known him for a long time. I support all my friends. That is what I have to say. He's a good friend of mine."

He did, however, talk about their friendship and some of the fun things they do together.

"He's always been so supportive of me. For the last 15 years, since I judged a beauty pageant for him, which was one of the very first things that I did that I thought was really cool. That came along with winning the Super Bowl," said Brady. "He's always invited me to play golf. I've always enjoyed his company."

Back in September, reporters asked Brady about Trump after seeing a campaign hat in his locker — which he says is still in his cubby. He also said "that would be great" when asked if he thinks Trump can become president.

Whatever reason Brady had for leaving the podium, if the past few months have been any indication, it's pretty clear where his allegiances lie.
