Former Ravens great Ray Lewis released a more than two-minute video on Tuesday begging the people of Baltimore to "stop the violence."

Lewis, a future Hall of Fame linebacker, was reacting to the violence that erupted on Monday as hundreds of rioters looted stores, set buildings on fire and injured at least 15 police officers following the funeral of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who died after he was injured in police custody.

"Violence is not the answer," Lewis pleaded. "Rioting in our streets is wrong. We must change this right now."

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced a week-long citywide curfew that would be imposed Tuesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The first two games of the series between the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox were cancelled, with Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred taking the unprecedented step of announcing Wednesday's game at Camden Yards would be closed to the public.
