John Scott's NHL All-Star Game jersey options

The NHL is allowing former Arizona Coyotes enforcer John Scott to play in the Jan. 31 all-star game as Pacific Division captain. But now that he's property of the Montreal Canadiens and skating with their AHL affiliate in St. John's, which jersey should Scott wear?

The NHL says enforcer John Scott can keep his spot as captain of the Pacific Division for the Jan. 31 all-star game in Nashville, despite the fact he was traded to Montreal on Jan. 15. The next decision Scott and the league must make is what jersey will the former Coyote wear. Maybe the St. John's IceCaps? Perhaps the Canadiens, even though he has yet to suit up for the Habs. What about his old team, the Coyotes? (CBCSports.ca)

Here's what we learned about NHL enforcer John Scott on Tuesday:

  • He will attend, play and represent the Pacific Division as its captain at NHL All-Star Game in Nashville on the Jan. 31.
  • He's felt incredibly stressed since the message to vote for the former Arizona Coyotes forward spread like wildfire on social media.
  • It never crossed Scott's mind not to report to the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League after Arizona traded him to the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 15.
  • Scott isn't any closer to returning to the NHL and debuting with the Habs.

"If I warrant a call-up, so be it. It's back to square one in my career, I guess," Scott, who has 11 points in 285 NHL regular-season games and was a frequent healthy scratch in Arizona this season, told reporters.

"I am excited to participate in the all-star events with my fellow players," he added in a statement released by the NHL.

As for the game, which has been changed to a 3-on-3 format featuring some of the best players from each division in the league, one has to wonder what jersey Scott would be comfortable sporting.

"I think I'm going to wear the Ice Caps since that's the team I'm on right now," he said, laughing, during a Tuesday evening appearance on Toronto's Fan 590 sports radio station. "It's not up to me, I guess, because I am technically Montreal's property but I came from Arizona.

"That's another question for someone with a higher pay grid than me."
