Sabres Patrick Kaleta forced to take snow day
Buffalo forward can't escape 4 feet of snow in Hamburg, N.Y.
While parts of Buffalo only received a few inches of snow, Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta was unable to escape the four feet that blanketed his home in Hamburg, N.Y., and missed the Sabres' game Tuesday night against the San Jose Sharks at First Niagara Center.
The Sabres were able to play the game and defeated the Sharks, 4-1.
Kaleta lives in Hamburg, a town about a 20-minute drive south of Buffalo, where a severe lake effect snowstorm was dumping more than four feet of snow since Monday night. Coach Ted Nolan announced Kaleta's absence a few hours before the game began.

Sabres assistant GM Mark Jakubowski and head athletic trainer Tim Macre, who also live south of Buffalo, were also unable to attend the game.
The Sabres players saluted the 6,200 fans who did make it to the game.
