Kings' Pearson suspended for hit on Oilers' Davidson

The NHL has suspended Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Pearson for the remainder of the pre-season and two regular-season games for an illegal check to the head of Edmonton Oilers defenceman Brandon Davidson.

The NHL has suspended Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Pearson for the remainder of the pre-season and two regular-season games for an illegal check to the head of Edmonton Oilers defenceman Brandon Davidson.

The incident occurred in the second period of Sunday's pre-season game in Vernon, B.C. Pearson was assessed a match penalty for illegal check to the head and a game misconduct.

Davidson left the game after the hit and did not return.

The suspension will cost Pearson US$15,555.56. He will miss the Kings' season opener at San Jose and their home opener against Philadelphia.

He will be eligible to return Oct. 18 at Minnesota.
