Oilers bring in top prospect Hall for visit

The Edmonton Oilers are getting to know Taylor Hall, bringing in the player who is expected to go first or second in the NHL entry draft later this month.

The Edmonton Oilers are getting to know Taylor Hall, on Thursday bringing in the player who is expected to go first or second in the NHL entry draft later this month.

Hall, 18, paid a visit to the team's coaches and general managers. He is scheduled to meet with reporters later Thursday.

The right wing became the first Canadian junior player to be named most valuable player of the Memorial Cup in two consecutive years as his Windsor Spitfires won the championship.

The Calgary-born player has scored 123 goals and 157 assists in 183 games in Windsor.

Hall and Plymouth Whalers centre Tyler Seguin are considered the two top prospects for the draft. The pair tied for the Ontario Hockey League scoring lead the past season.

The Oilers select first in the June 25 NHL entry draft in Los Angeles, with Boston picking second. It is believed that the Bruins, who are fairly deep at centre, are high on Hall.

It was not immediately clear if Edmonton has scheduled a visiting day for Seguin.
