The first draft pick made by Winnipeg's NHL team will be handed a sweater with the league's black and grey colours, according to assistant general manager Craig Heisinger.

Speculation has swirled about what the new team will be called since a return to the city was announced on May 31.

The Winnipeg team is scheduled to pick seventh overall in Friday's draft.

Even though the player will be a given a NHL sweater, it still remains possible the Winnipeg franchise will announce its team name over the weekend.

Heisinger called the last few weeks a blur, but says the staff is ready for the draft.

He refused to comment on reports that Claude Noel will become the team's new head coach.
