McDonald's places food order limit at Olympic Village

While McDonald's at the Olympic Village is a resounding hit with competitors, the food chain was forced to clamp down due to lengthy lineups.

Medals aren't the only thing Olympic athletes are in hot pursuit of in Rio.

Competitors are flocking to the McDonald's in the Olympic Village to fill up on burgers, fries and McNuggets instead of eating healthy food.

With limited options in sight, the international food chain has been inundated with lineups of athletes during the Olympics.

After his team's loss to Chinese Taipei, Australia badminton player Sawan Serasinghe treated himself for completing his Olympic experience with six burgers, six cakes, four boxes of chicken McNuggets and six orders of french fries.

Serasinghe displayed his haul.

However, he is not alone.

Each day, the Chinese basketball team makes Big Macs its breakfast in the morning and members of the Iranian Olympic team has been spotted in the lineups.

Additionally, men's 100-metres, triple gold medallist Usain Bolt had a craving for chicken McNuggets and struck it rich!

With the high demand and lengthy lineups, McDonald's made the decision this week to only allow athletes to order a maximum of 20 items. The rule is aimed to combat the long lineups and disappointment of food items running out.

Hopefully, the member of Team Canada's canoe/kayak slalom squad got his ice cream wish fulfilled.
