On July 27, 1996, Canadian sprinter Donovan Bailey powered past the finish line in world-record time at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. It has been 20 years since Canadians exploded in cheers around their televisions to celebrate his golden 100-metre win in 9.84 seconds, and the memories came flooding back Wednesday.

Bailey commemorated the anniversary by bringing out the two medals he won in Atlanta - gold in the 100, and gold in the 4x100 relay.

Canadians took to Twitter to relive the magic and thank Bailey for delivering one of their favourite Olympic moments of all time.

To celebrate this important date in Canadian sports history, the Toronto Blue Jays invited Bailey to throw the opening pitch prior to Wednesday afternoon's game against the San Diego Padres.
