Nesta Carter, Jamaican sprinter, reportedly caught in retest
2008 Olympic medal in jeopardy for Jamaicans
Usain Bolt's relay gold from the 2008 Olympics could be in jeopardy.
Nesta Carter, Bolt's teammate in the 4x100-metre relay in Beijing, has reportedly been identified as the Jamaican athlete caught with a positive sample during a retest by the International Olympic Committee.
According to reports, Carter's "A" sample contained the substance methylhexanamine. The stimulant was added to the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) banned list since 2004.
However, the BBC reports that methylhexanamine was reclassified as a "specified substance" in 2011, meaning that a non-doping explanation is possible.
If Carter's "B" sample comes back positive, he, Bolt and relay team members Asafa Powell and Michael Frater could lose their gold medals from the 2008 Games.
Carter was also a member of the 2012 Olympic relay team that also won gold. Samples from the London Games are currently being retested as well.

- An earlier version to this story stated methylhexanamine has been on WADA's banned list since 2009. It has, in fact, been on the list since 2004.Jun 03, 2016 5:13 PM ET
