De Grasse finishes 2nd in tight 200m at Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo
American Robert Gregory edges Canadian star by 0.05 seconds with time of 20.24

Canadian sprint star Andre De Grasse finished 0.05 seconds away from victory in the men's 200 metres at the World Athletics Continental Tour's Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo.
The Markham, Ont., native was held off by 23-year-old American Robert Gregory, who won with a time of 20.24 (-2.0 m/s wind) on Sunday.

Japan's Shota Iizuka took third place in 20.67.
De Grasse, who won Olympic gold in the 200m in 2021, is searching for his second win in the distance this season. The 30-year-old won the event at last month's Florida Relays before finishing fourth in his Grand Slam Track debut earlier this month in Miami.

De Grasse's Olympic relay teammate Jerome Blake was also in action in Tokyo, but the Kelowna, B.C., native finished last in his first-round heat in the men's 100m with a time of 11.54.
Japan's Hiroki Yanagita went on to win the 100 final in 10.06 (+1.1 m/s), placing just ahead of Americans Christian Miller (10.08) and Christian Coleman (10.11).

Sade McCreath of Ajax, Ont., was third in the women's 100m, clocking 11.46 to finish behind Australia's Bree Rizzo (11.38) and American Twanisha Terry (11.42).
The 28-year-old McCreath finished 0.01 seconds ahead of American star Sha'Carri Richardson.
Tokyo will also host the World Athletics Championships from Sept. 13-21.
