Canada's Katie Vincent paddles to World Cup gold
Canada also adds another quota spot for kayak in Rio
Katie Vincent will be going home with a very special souvenir from the first ICF World Cup event of the season.
The Mississauga, Ont., canoeist scored a gold medal in Duisberg, Germany on Saturday in the C1 200m event in a time of 46.205 seconds.
Russia's Olesia Romasenko (46.339) and Katie Reid of Great Britain (47.470) rounded out the podium.
Canadian kayakers Mark de Jonge and Alex Scott, both of Halifax, excelled in their opening heats and moved on to the semifinal races in the men's K1 200m.
De Jonge finished second in his semi to move onto the 'A' final on Sunday, and a shot at a World Cup medal. Scott finished sixth and was relegated to a lesser final.

Emilie Fournel of Montreal will also participate in the 'A' final of the women's K1 500m after placing second in her semifinal heat.
Add another for Rio
Canada also gained another quota spot in kayak at the Rio Olympics thanks to Andréanne Langlois.
Langlois won her K1 200m event at the Pan Am Championship and Continental Qualifier in Gainesville, Georgia to secure the Canadian Olympic spot.
"I was ready at trials and even more ready for Pan Ams. I realized this is my time to shine and it worked," said Langlois.
