X Games: O'Brien, Parrot win gold; McMorris wins silver
Dara Howell placed 5th in women's ski slopestyle
Canadians had a successful day at the X Games on Friday, with Spencer O'Brien winning her first-ever gold medal at the games in women's snowboard slopestyle and Max Parrot winning gold in the big air competition.
Mark McMorris finished second behind Parrot, winning silver and failing to defend his title in the event. Parrot scored 93.00 points whereas McMorris scored 91.00.
Brett Turcotte also medalled on Friday, winning a bronze in snowmobile freestyle.
O'Brien beat out American Jamie Anderson — the most decorated snowboarder in X Games slopestyle history — for the gold, besting her with a best run of 91.00 to 89.00.
Turcotte's bronze medal was his second ever at the X Games. He won a silver in SnoCross in 2008.
Canadian Dara Howell placed fifth in women's ski slopestyle, while Chris Del Bosco placed fourth in qualifying for men's skier X.
The X Games will continue on Saturday and Sunday, where McMorris still has slopestyle to compete in, where he is the defending champion.
