Dustin Cook gives Canada silver in super-G at world championships
Skier a relative unknown on World Cup circuit
Canadian Dustin Cook won a surprising silver medal in the super-G event at the world alpine skiing championships at Beaver Creek, Colo., on Thursday.

—@Vail2015The Ottawa-born skier completed the course in 1:15.79, behind winner Hannes Reichelt of Austria, who clocked a time of 1:15.68 and ahead of bronze medallist Adrien Theaux of France with a time of 1:15.92.

—@Skier_oneCook, 25, a relative unknown on the World Cup circuit, has a pair of 12th-place finishes this season and entered this event ranked 13th in the overall standings, making him one of Canada's most consistent performers in the early going of 2015.
"This year I've had good results, really good splits," said Cook. "For me it's a culmination of a lot of years. Nobody in Europe knows who I am. I know that I'm capable of this for sure."
American Bode Miller, competing in his first race since back surgery in November, fell during his run. Although he was able to complete the course, Miller hooked his left arm on a gate, spun backward, lost both skis and tumbled down the hill.
Miller suffered a deep cut on his leg which the U.S. Ski Team said was being evaluated by medical staff.
