Canada's strong showing at the X Games continued on Saturday when Alex Beaulieu-Marchand captured bronze in the men's ski slopestyle.

The Quebec City native scored a 92.00 on his first run, which included a switch double bio 1260 and a double bio 1260, to hold onto third place and his first X Games medal.

Norway's Oystein Braaten won the event with a 94.33 on his second run and McRae Williams on the United States, took silver with a best run score of 93.33.

The 22-year-old Beaulieu-Marchand was coming off a third place finish at a Dew Tour event in Breckenridge, Colo., in December.

"This is my first X Games podium. Mentally, I was stronger than I've ever been," he said. "I think that was the missing piece in years past. I now see that I can be successful. I had no doubt at the start that I was going to land my run...I'm really happy with where I'm at mentally, and ready for more success."

Evan McEachran of Oakville, Ont., finished eighth.

Beaulieu-Marchand has had a rough time at the Aspen X Games event in recent years, breaking his left collarbone just before last year's competition and tearing his left ACL on the final jump of his second run in 2015. His best finish at Aspen was in 2014 when he placed fifth.

Turski, Turcotte just off podium

Kaya Turski made her long awaited return to the Winter X Games after a two-year absence due to injuries.

The 28-year-old competed in the women's ski big air competition landing a switch double 1080 for a score of 47.00.

While Turski's score was tied for the highest by any skiier, the Montreal native's combined two-jump score of 76.00 left her six points short of the bronze medal.

The veteran returned to action at last month's Dew Tour event placing third in the women's ski slopestyle, a discipline she's won five times and will compete in tomorrow.

Brett Turcotte of Kamloops, B.C. sat in podium position after the first run of the men's snowmobile freestyle competition with a score of 88.66 but slipped to fourth place when Levi LaVallee of the United States scored a 90.00 on his final run.

Josh Penner of Letellier, Man. finished eigth.

O'Brien unable to compete

Spencer O'Brien pulled out of today's women's snowboard slopestyle competition after spraining her ankle in a collision with a course worker after practice on Thursday.

The injury also forced the Courtenay, B.C., native to withdraw from the Big Air competition.

The 28-year-old was the defending champion in the slopestyle competition.

Julia Marino of the United States won the event in her X Games debut adding onto the bronze she won earlier in the weekend in the Big Air competition.
