Team Canada upped its medal count to 10 over the weekend by winning two gold medals and one bronze at the para-cycling World Cup in Maniago, Italy.

Tristen Chernove, a Paralympic gold medallist from Cranbrook, B.C., won the men's C2 road race in a field sprint, adding to the silver he secured at the time trial.

"It was a great race, it feels good to win," said Chernove. "I have to admit that racing at high speed through cobbles is a new experience for me and I had a couple of touchy moments, but it was a great race."

Toronto's Shelley Gautier contributed the other gold with a victory in the women's T1 road race, and the tandem team of Robbi Weldon, from Ottawa, and Audrey Lemieux of Montreal added the bronze medal in their race.

"The road race was pretty crazy because it was raining and there were some cobble sections," said Lemieux. "Today it was teamwork with both Canadian teams and our coach. It was an amazing day."

Sebastien Travers, the national para-cycling head coach, was impressed with Canada's results at the tournament.

"I'm very pleased with the weekend overall. In the road races we have identified a lot of things to work on for the next World Cups and the world championships. I am very satisfied with everyone's performances and the spirit of the team."
