World record holder Tatyana Lysenko and fellow Russian hammer thrower Ekaterina Khoroshikh were each barred for two years by the International Association of Athletics Federations on Tuesday for doping violations.
Lysenko and Khoroshikh both tested positive for a banned hormone blocker in an out-of-competition test in Moscow in May 2007.
Lysenko was also stripped of her world record throw of 78.61 metres made just a few weeks after the test samples were taken.
She still holds the world record with a 77.80 m throw made in August 2006.
Officials at the Russian athletics federation could not be reached for comment.
