TFC declines contract option, eligible for re-entry draft
Toronto FC has declined its contract option on Dwayne De Rosario, meaning the former MLS MVP's second stint with the club is likely over.
The 36-year-old attacking midfielder is eligible for the league's re-entry draft. If not chosen, Toronto could try to negotiate a new deal with him.
De Rosario started just four games this season, with one goal in 19 appearances. He saw little action under former manager Ryan Nelsen but was used more by Greg Vanney.
Toronto also declined options on defender Ryan Richter, midfielder Jeremy Hall and forward Andrew Wiedeman. Forward Bright Dike's contract has also expired.
The MLS club exercised options on 15 players, including goalie Joe Bendik and forward Luke Moore.
