Although Argentina won the match 1-0, following a goal by Gonzalo Higuaín, Messi's injury could be a potential blow to the Albiceleste's Copa America hopes.
This tournament, which is taking place in the United States to celebrate its centennial, is the South American equivalent of the European Championship which will take place this summer.
Argentina is scheduled to begin the Copa tournament June 6 against Chile.
