Montreal Roses FC jumped out to a 2-0 edge 14 minutes into the contest and never looked back en route to defeating Vancouver Rise FC 3-1 on Sunday in Northern Super League action.

Hailey Whitaker, Alexandria Hess and Latifah Abdu scored for league-leading Montreal (2-0-0).

Quinn replied for Vancouver (1-1-0), which suffered its first loss of the season. It was Vancouver's first game at Swangard Stadium after opening the season at B.C. Place Stadium in a 1-0 win over Calgary Wild FC on April 16 in the league's inaugural game.

Whitaker got the show started in the third minute, with Hess following up 11 minutes later.

Abdu padded the lead in the 41st minute to send Montreal into the halftime break up 3-0.

Montreal hosts Ottawa Rapid FC for its home opener on Saturday, while Vancouver hosts Halifax Tides FC on May 5.

Min-a Lee scores Ottawa's 1st-ever goal

Min-a Lee and Desiree Scott scored one goal apiece to lift hometown Ottawa Rapid FC to a 2-1 victory over AFC Toronto on Sunday in Northern Super League action at TD Place.

The match was Ottawa's season and home opener in the new women's soccer league.

In a series of franchise first's, Desiree Scott's goal in the eighty-first minute proved to be the winner as Ottawa Rapid FC defeated AFC Toronto 2-1 Sunday.
Kaylee Hunter scored for Toronto three minutes into stoppage time near the game's end.

Toronto fell to 0-2-0, having also lost 1-0 to Montreal Roses FC on April 19 at BMO Field in its season opener.

An extra time goal by AFC Toronto's Kaylee Hunter proved to be the franchise's first goal scored, but it was Ottawa Rapid FC with a 2-1 victory.

Lee opened the scoring in the 54th minute and Scott padded Ottawa's lead in the 81st minute.

Ottawa visits Montreal next on Saturday, while Toronto next hosts Calgary Wild FC on Thursday.
