6 series to binge this weekend
CBC Gem has been adding some fantastic content lately. Here are six series available now that are binge-worthy.
PEN 15
Middle School. As it really happened. Bad girl jealousy, discovering masturbation, practicing tolerance, awkward school dances... Where the best day of your life can turn into your worst with the stroke of a gel pen.
Set in the year 2000, Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle play thirteen-year-old versions of themselves, surrounded by actual thirteen-year-olds, as they live through middle school. Erskine and Konkle also created, wrote, and executive produced the series.
NORTHERN RESCUE
William Baldwin and Kathleen Robertson star in this family drama about John West (Baldwin), who uproots his three children from the big city to return to his home town to take command of the local search and rescue service after the death of his wife.
Northern Rescue also stars some amazing next-level talent in Amalia Wiliamson (Level 16), Spencer MacPherson (DeGrassi: Next Class), and Taylor Thorne (Odd Squad).
While set in the fictional town of Turtle Bay, Northern Rescue was filmed in and around Parry Sound, Ontario.
ORDEAL BY INNOCENCE
When wealthy philanthropist, Rachel Argyll, is murdered at her family estate, her adopted son Jack is arrested for her murder. He vehemently protests his guilt and eighteen months later, the identity of the murderer is thrown in doubt. Now it is up to the rest of the family to decipher a killer amongst them.
This classic whodunnit is Based on the Agatha Christie novel and stars Bill Nighy, Morven Christie, Anthony Boyle, and Christian Cooke.
HUDSON
Set in the world of Heartland, this original digital series sees Jade Virani (Madison Cheeatow) take charge of Maggie's Diner in the owner's absence. She's also been tasked with upping Maggie's social media game. Only she has competition... from the new girl in town, Sloane (Bianca Caroca), who's also looking to make an impression.
The tone of the series is more adult than Heartland, and aims to showcase a younger generation and how they handle themselves when the "adults" aren't around!
