We need a dream team to survive the zombie apocalypse (and here's who we suggest)

A zombie apocalypse has broken out and the world is quickly disintegrating into shambles. You alone don't have the skills to remain alive and need to find a group of loyal, hardworking survivors to help you make it — stat. Who do you pick to be on your team?

Season 2 of Canada's Ultimate Challenge is over and we chose our group of survivors from the players on the show.

But first, ask yourself if you really want to forge on. "Honestly just come on over and eat my brains, I'm not trying to live through that," says sheep farmer Shannon Torgenson, who was eliminated from the competition early along with Team Yellow. Fair point.

The manager: keeping the team together

Assuming you choose life, you'll need someone to organize and rally your group. Communications advisor and cheerleading coach Jenny Laviolette would be perfect for the role. "I know she can turn into a dragon in high-pressure situations," says fellow teammate Sandrick Brisard Cadet. "She would come up with a genius idea on where to hide and secretly kill the zombies and survive," says player Sandra Wendland. Her bright, outgoing personality makes her a perfect team manager.

The expert: real practical skills

Having someone with real-life practical expertise is essential. That's where pipeliner Dominic Kehoe comes in. "He is a true country boy who I know has a lot of weapons on hand," says Whitney Beers one of the winners of the competition series. "My guy definitely has a bunker full of guns and ammo that we'd be able to use," agrees player Quinton Maclean. Knowing how to use a gun and having them on hand gets you a spot on this team. And as a bonus, he's a trustworthy guy who knows how to live in a big group (bio note: he already has five children!)

The leader: choosing the team and direction

We'll also need someone with some real leadership chops. They'd need to assess people quickly and understand each member's strengths and weaknesses. Whitney, a mom and entrepreneur from St. John's is compassionate, yet gutsy when she needs to be, and has a killer instinct to win. An alpha momma bear, she'll protect her team and keep them on track working together.

The fighter: good all-around stamina and drive

Fighter Adam Pike (this image was generated by AI) (Jag Photography)

We'd also bring in Adam Pike, an excellent fighter from Newfoundland. As long as someone else is in charge of strategy (remember the pole hang?), Adam will battle for survival until the bitter, bitter end. "The guy's a beast and he probably knows how to load a gun and fillet a fish," says best friend and teammate Brandon Rodwell. And that would be a big bonus since catching fish could be important in the coming dark days as food on land becomes hard to find.

The diplomat: navigating the tricky spots

We're also going to need someone who can manage difficult people and situations. Our girl, Shasily Matowe navigated from Team Green — which, let it be known, was a hot mess — to Team Orange, only to show up as part of the winning Team Wildcard. She's a true chameleon, good at changing colours to stay in the game. Player Angel Anderson agrees, "I would definitely want to have Shasily with me because that girl can survive everything!"

The worker: dependable and always delivers

Brandon Rodwell is wearing a red headband and a red Canada's Ultimate Challenge jacket and tshirt. The littered ruins of a building are behind him.

Brandon, also one of the competition winners, is perfect as a solid all-around worker. He listens, is quick to learn, takes instruction well and was unstoppable in the show's final challenge. This tough, scrappy motocross racer and construction worker would be a valuable asset. When essentials like gas get hard to find, Brandon can jump on a dirt bike for those all-important scavenger missions for supplies. And he's loyal, says Adam, "if he had to, he would sacrifice his life for me."

The strategist: plotting out the plan

Fighter Courtney Copoc-Hopkins (this image was generated by AI) (Jag Photography)

As far as putting together a survival plan goes, Courtney Copoc-Hopkins comes out on top. Voted team coach not once, but twice, she was the brains behind the competitive Team Red. And she's also a great athlete and a true warrior! This 5'2 superwoman is literally nicknamed "the powerhouse."

The secret weapon: underestimated and fierce

An Asian women stands with her hands on her knees. A flaming apocalyptic background is seen in the distance.
Figheter Jac Le (this image was generated by AI) (Jag Photography)

Never underestimate tough-as-nails Jac Le, who also gets a place in the group. Team Yellow player Paul Kibobe says, "I feel like she'd be handy to fit through small spaces and I could pick her up and run easily if need be." Jac has the mental toughness and speed to go one-on-one and slay in any zombie fight.
