Dream CBC crossovers that will never be

What if our favourite shows were in a shared universe?

As a TV-loving, episode-binging, detail-obsessive audience, we just love it when our favourite shows interact and crossover with one another in a shared universe.

And time is no foil for crossovers. Take for instance the Murdoch Mysteries / Republic of Doyle crossovers which saw Jake Doyle's grandfather rubbing elbows with Murdoch in the Murdoch Mysteries episode, "Republic of Murdoch" and later Murdoch's grandson crossing paths with Jake in Republic of Doyle's "If the Shoe Fits."

Granted, it's rare. We can't all be the MCU, though I'm sure there'll be some nice "Kim's Convenience meets Shang-Chi" fanfic in the near future, but we can dream up some would-be crossovers that will, sadly, never be.

Anne Carlson (Dani Kind) is looking advice on parenting delinquent teenagers and is introduced to Umma (Jean Yoon) through Sonja's twin sister, Pastor Nina (Amanda Brugel). Hearing Umma talk about Jung (Simu Liu) gives her hope that Alice (Sadie Munro) is not a lost cause.

It's nice when shows share a running theme, in this case, that of parenting a rebellious child. Not to mention Amanda Brugel in duo roles as Sonja and Pastor Nina. What's not to love?

Jenny Cooper (Serinda Swan) discovers an old journal in the City Morgue's archived records dating back to 1904 from Dr. Julia Ogden (Helene Joy), that helps her with a puzzling case.

Let's be honest, we can all learn a lot from Julia.

Diggstown / Burden of Truth

When students turn up sick at a North Preston middle school, the community is desperately looking for someone to blame. When the case lands on Marcie Digg's (Vinessa Antoine) lap she discovers a connection between the illness and the county's water supply, which leads her to a similar case in Millwood, MB.

Who wouldn't want to see Kristen Kreuk's Joanna Hanley and Vinessa Antoine's Marcie Diggs team up to fight injustice?

After finishing Queens College, Anne (Amybeth McNulty) decides to move to Toronto as Gilbert (Lucas Jade Zumann) finishes med school at U of T. She gets a job as a teacher yet continues to pursue a writing career. Her imagination runs amok as she is soon inspired to write a mystery novel thanks to a chance meeting with Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson). That novel, in turn, inspires Frankie Drake (Lauren Lee Smith).

The timing is right. The location is right. The forward-thinking, resourceful Anne Shirley-Cuthbert and William Murdoch exchanging ideas and thoughts is right. This thing writes itself!

Kim's Convenience / Schitt's Creek

To prove he is not out of touch with modern proprietorship trends, Appa (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) signs up for a business workshop conducted by Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy). Meanwhile, David (Dan Levy) and Patrick (Noah Reid) decide to open a second Rose Apothecary store in Toronto, right next to Kim's Convenience.

With family being at the heart of both Kim's Convenience and Schitt's Creek, it'd be great to see how those dynamics clash with (or complement) each other.
