We're inviting you to celebrate Canada with a full day of original programming on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio, CBC's streaming channels and in person. Here's a rundown of what's going on and how you can join us.

Celebrate with us in person

CBC kicks off It's a Canada Thing summer tour at The Forks in Winnipeg, Wascana Park in Regina, Chinguacousy Park in Brampton, and Pier 21 in Halifax. Visit our colourful pop-up activations to share what living in this country means to you and test your knowledge of Canadian culture in a friendly competition to win fun CBC prizes.

Canada Day live coverage begins early with CBC News

CBC News' Canada Day programming will be available on CBC TV, CBC News Network, CBC Gem, the CBC News YouTube channel and CBC News streaming channels, with select elements on CBC Radio.

Coverage kicks off at 6 a.m. ET with Heather Hiscox in Charlottetown as the celebration gets underway. At 10 a.m. ET,  Adrienne Arsenault takes over from Le Breton Flats Park in Ottawa until 2 p.m. ET. 

Meanwhile, CBC Radio brings listeners into the heart of the celebration from LeBreton Flats Park with hosts Piya Chattopadhyay and Elamin Abdelmahmoud live at 11 a.m. ET.

Then join host Saroja Coelho for Call in Canada, a live, cross-country conversation inviting you to share what being Canadian means to you, airing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET.

From 4 p.m to 7 p.m, join hosts David Common and Aarti Pole who will be connecting with communities from coast to coast.

At 7 p.m. ET, CBC News heads back to Ottawa for a special Canada Day concert pre-show hosted by Adrienne Arsenault with Elamin Abdelmahoud, featuring interviews with performers.

Nine extraordinary Canadians will be inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in a gala ceremony hosted by Arisa Cox and Madison Tevlin at Toronto's Metro Toronto Convention Centre. This year's inductees include:

  • Five-time JUNO Award-winning "First Lady of Guitar" Liona Boyd 

  • Pioneering cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Tirone David

  • Acclaimed filmmaker and director Shawn Levy

  • Champion of children's wellness on the frontlines of global crises Samantha Nutt

  • Multi-platinum, diamond-selling band Our Lady Peace 

  • Founder of the world's leading luxury hotel brand Four Seasons, Isadore Sharp

  • Celebrating 50 years as a powerhouse of Canadian and global entertainment the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)

  • One of Canada's greatest golfers Mike Weir 

  • Award-winning actress, producer and advocate Tonya Williams

The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. (8 p.m. AT/8:30 p.m. NT) on CBC TV and CBC Gem, featuring performances by Our Lady Peace, Sam Roberts, The Tenors, and a tribute to Liona Boyd.

Host Isabelle Raciot will be joined by special guests Sarah McLachlan, Cœur de pirate, Josh Ross, Tom Cochrane, Mitsou, Amanda Marshall, Roch Voisine, Randy Bachman, Édith Butler, TALK, Dumas & Ivan Boivin-Flamand, Fredz, Aasiva, Muzion, Billie du Page, Morgan Grace, with Blue Rodeo, Dear Rouge, Crook the Kid, Brenda Montana, Jeff Douglas, Katherine Levac, Les Sœurs Bégin and Enola Bedard. Featuring memorable performances from across the country, the event's grand finale will culminate with a special fireworks display, lighting up the Ottawa-Gatineau sky.

The concert special begins at 8 p.m. (9 p.m. AT/9:30 p.m. NT) across all CBC platforms.

We'll be listening to Canadian music all day with Mornings host Damhnait Doyle, Tempo's Julie Nesrallah, About Time's Tom Allen, Drive's Rich Terfry and The Block's Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe.

Explore Canada on CBC's FAST Channels

From June 27 to July 1, the Murdoch Mysteries channel will feature episodes of the long-running drama series that highlight historic Canadians. And on July 1, CBC Comedy will offer a Still Standing West-Coast-to-East-Coast marathon, featuring episodes that showcase the beauty of Canada and the hidden comedy found in its small towns.
